Leeds United boss Gary McAllister has handed defender Frazer Richardson the captain´s armband for this season.

Richardson led the Leeds team out for the first time on Saturday as they beat Scunthorpe 2-1 in their first game of the season.

McAllister said: "He is a respected figure amongst the younger players at the club. He sets a great example on the training ground. So he ticks a lot of boxes for me."

Richardson succeeds Jonathan Douglass as captain of the Elland Road club. He had Enoch Showunmi and Jermaine Beckford to thank on Saturday as Leeds came back from a goal behind to win at Glanford Park.
